Explanation for Case Study 1 : Carbon Monoxide Poisoning








Case Study 2: Finger Stopped Bleeding

Look at the comic above.
-What do you think might have happened to the boy a few moments eariler? (hint: he cut his finger while doin arts and crafts)
- Did he really run out of blood?
- What caused the blood to stop following? Please explain the mechanism as far as you can.
- What will the body respond to the wound if the scissors he used to cut his finger was dirty? Please explain the response.









Case Study 1 : Carbon Monoxide Poisoning

Watch the following news.
What happened to the victim?
What gas caused the accident?
How did a large amount of the gas get into the car?



From the knowledge obtained from the class activity, discuss in your groups.
Explain how carbon monoxide gas causes poisoning in as detailed a manner as possible.







Instructions for Case-Study Assignment

A: Introduction of cases
Watch the video on Case Study 1 and read the scenario for Case Study 2 and explain the phenomenons.

B: Submitting your answers as a group
Organise your thoughts and rationales into a prose and submit your answer as Comments to both the entries. Each group is to submit one entry to each case study. Your group will be graded based on the two entries submitted.

>>>The group who manage to post up their answers faster will be awarded bonus points.

The explanation for both the cases will be posted on this blog after the lesson. Each students will have to read and understand the explanation, then reflect on what you have learnt from both the case studies. Reflection will be submited in the form of Comments. Participation marks will be given to each individuals' entry.
